international day of peace – free yoga

peace comes from within. do not seek it without – Buddha

Genuine inner peace is not found outside of our Self, it can only be found within. When we find it and nurture within ourselves, it radiates outwards, beautifully affecting our external world. Take today to contribute to world peace by nurturing peace within your Self.
“Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples” – United Nations

The relatively young organisation Peace One Day’s main objective is to make September 21 – Peace Day – into an international day of unity. They believe it can become a day of intercultural co-operation that is acted out on a global scale.

The founder Jeremy Gilley, an actor and filmaker, says he was inspired by a 70% reduction in violent acts in Afghanistan on Peace Day, to build an even stronger foundation for the project. In 2012 he launched a Global Truce campaginw with a coaltion of various Peace One Day groups leading to an NGO Coalition, a Coalition to Reduce Domestic Violence, a Student Coaltion and a School’s Network.

who will you make peace with?

In 2012 more than 280 million people were reported to be aware of Peace Day – which is 4% of the global population – and it is thought that on September 21st 2013 double the amount of peolpe will have some idea of the project. We will be a part of the 2013 day, and we invite you to come to the Buffalo studio to take part in the free yoga class and meditation. Please let your friends and family know about Peace Day, and about the event at our studio.
