HOW DOES IT WORK
The special thing about Vinyasa yoga: the combination of dynamic movements and conscious breathing. Vinyasa yoga is characterized primarily by the combination of movement and breathing. What is crucial here is smooth transitions between the individual yoga positions. The breath guides these transitions and you really stay in the “flow”.
Movement: One movement flows into the other. What movements these are is determined in advance. On the one hand, there are typical sequences, for example the sun salutation or the yoga dog. On the other hand, your yoga teacher may demonstrate his or her own Vinyasa flows. Or you are an experienced yogi and come up with your own combinations. But this is only advisable if you have already mastered this type of yoga; because it is important to carry out the movements correctly.
Breathing: Try to focus on your breathing. Your breathing should guide you through your movements. This means that you move in sync with inhaling and exhaling. When you breathe in or out can vary. Most people breathe consciously when taking and changing a pose.
Pranayama: This is how the breathing exercises in yoga work. Especially at the beginning, you may find it difficult to pay attention to the flows and breathing at the same time. The more confident you become with the processes, the easier it will be for you to combine them. True to the motto: practice makes perfect.
Tip: When doing yoga, take time to relax before and after the actual exercises. This works, for example, if you close your eyes while sitting or lying down, try not to think about anything and consciously breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.
